 Naftifine hydrochloride is an allylamine anti-fungal drug. It is a hydrochloride salt form of naftifine . It is used in the treatment of tinea corporis, tinea pedis and tinea curis. The moleculer weight of naftifine hydrochloride is 323.9 gm/mol. It is a yellow color gell. It is also known as, Naftifungin, Exoderil, Naftin etc.

Structure:-

The moleculer formula of naftifine hydrochloride is,[C21H22ClN].
The IUPAC name of  naftifine hydrochloride is,(E)-N-methyl-N-(napthalen-1-ylmethyl)-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-amine;hydrochloride.

Synthesis:-

Mechanism of action:-

Naftifine hydrochloride inhibit squalene-2,3-epoxidase enzyme. This enzyme is very essential for ergosterol biosynthesis. Due to the inhibition, the production of ergosterol decrease. Ergosterol is very important compound of fungal cellmembren, so the cell is dead.

Uses:-

1. It is used in the treatment of Jock itch(tinea cruris) which, is caused by Trychophyton mentagrophytes.
2.It also used to treat athlete's foot(tinea pedis) caused by Trychophyton rubrum.

Side-effects:-

The overdose of naftifine hydrochloride shows different types of side-effects like, dry skin, itching, inflammation, irritation and redness on skin, headache, dizziness etc. If this symptoms are appear after the drug administration contact to your doctor or physician.
